Introducing a new series begun in December of 2024 entitled Arches. This collection of small 5.5" x 5.5" mixed media pieces feature the recurring theme of arches - are they hills, bridges, entryways? Dress patterns, vintage cancelled postage stamps, used and cleaned tea bags, musical scores, reclaimed dictionary pages, paint, gold leaf, chemistry books and other ephemera are used to create these unique works on paper. Most are titled by one of the words found on the page. My goal with this series is to experiment with textures and color combinations while adhering to the constant arch theme to set the starting point for each piece of art. These series specifically engages with the narrative potential of discarded paper ephemera. Found at the periphery of everyday life—yard sales, donations, attics —these forgotten documents, papers and books, once imbued with personal significance, are given new context. By carefully selecting and layering these remnants I seek to create colorful artworks that not only celebrate their inherent beauty but also invite reflection on the cycles of value and the stories embedded within the discarded.
